The company, eventually known as Esram Metals (M) Sdn. Bhd., was founded by the late Mr. Periasamy Chettiar, the son of immigrant parents from South India who had settled in Malaysia. Mr. Periasamy grew up in Kulim, Kedah during the late 1980s. After conducting a thorough market study, he decided to start a business called "Perniagaan Logam Periasamy Chettiar" in 1995, together with his son, Dato' Rammu Periasamy, in Kulim, Kedah. With the rising demand for steel, Perniagaan Logam Periasamy Chettiar began to thrive and saw significant growth by 1996.

In early 1998,

Mr. Periasamy Chettiar began experiencing health problems and, as a result, decided to hand over Perniagaan Logam Periasamy Chettiar to his son, Dato' Rammu Periasamy. After a few years, in early 2005, the business was renamed Esram Metals (M) Sdn. Bhd. in compliance with new government regulations.

was actively involved in the trading of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals. Dato' Rammu Periasamy proved to be an ambitious entrepreneur with a strong drive for expansion. A few years after establishing the company, in 2011, Esram Metals (M) Sdn. Bhd. proudly set up a new factory along with warehouse facilities spanning approximately 43,000 square feet. The business soon diversified beyond trading, as he established a smelting plant. Ultimately, this marked the transformation of Esram Metals (M) Sdn. Bhd. into a recognized secondary aluminium ingot manufacturing company.
